SCS/Track™ 4.4.0-0
SCS/Track
- Several improvements have been made to the AdLauncher.
-
The AdLauncher is now a stand-alone application eliminating its reliance upon Java Web Start. This method of starting the AdLauncher has become increasingly problematic as various browser enforce more strict security measures. As a stand-alone application running on a workstation it provides update notifications and must be downloaded and installed for first time use.
-
The AdLauncher has larger and clearer toolbar icons. These icons will eventually replace the same icons in Ad Inquiry and Ad info for consistency.
-
When launching a new document any assets available for that ad are now available in a place palette, allowing easy drag-and-drop into the document from the place palette. This functionality is only available if working in InDesign.

An issue has been resolved that would allow certain invalid characters to get into SCS/Track (CAS) note and description fields, typically due to an ad submission where a user enters data through a browser. Browsers should handle this properly but older browser like Internet Explorer have been shown to allow problematic characters through. This problem would typically manifest itself by causing the PostgreSQL reporting tools to fail to run properly. All invalid characters should now be stripped out preventing this from being a problem in the future.
-
Mark-up boxes when proofing an ad on-line through the SCS/Track (CAS) proofing tool would be too small and difficult to use on mobile devices with small viewports. The initial size of these boxes are bigger on such devices preventing this from being an issue.
-
The rotation number column in Ad Inquiry is now able to be sorted as a numeric field and filtered using numeric filter criteria like in between, greater than, etc. Previously filtering wasn't handled on these fields and sorting treated the field as a string. Although this addresses the issue primarily for the rotation number custom field, it will work for any custom fields a site uses that has a datatype of number.
-
When assigning sales assistants to a primary salesperson using the salesperson utility, checkboxes would not be set properly to the correct initial value, even though those salespeople might be selected.
-
Doing a mouse-over of the thumbnail preview in Ad Inquiry now displays a larger view of the ad image. This functionality had been available but stopped working in a previous version.
-
Tagging file types in ad submit, when doing a pickup or taking a classified ad would not always work because the image and detail areas would extend below the thumbnail preventing a user from clicking on the drop-down and selecting the file type. This issue has been resolved.
-
Multiple ads can now be checked out from Ad Inquiry, up to 10 at one time.
-
The entered by field is now available in the Ad Inquiry list as a field. This new field can be sorted and filtered as any other Ad Inquiry field.
-
The Bill Only field is now available in the Ad Inquiry list as a field. This new field can be sorted and filtered as any other Ad Inquiry field. If any run is marked as Bill Only the entire ad is considered Bill Only. This information also now appears at an insertion level in the Runs tab on the Ad Info page.
-
There is now a Default File Type option in the Ad Inquiry settings. If this value is set, the file type drop-down when doing a file upload through Ad Submit or during markup will have that value initially. If it is not set the uploads will continue to behave as it does now.
-
There are new options on the media type for Launch Id Point Size, Launch Id Font, and Launch Id Style. If at least the point size is set when launching ads in InDesign the order id will be embedded in the ad in a text box as part of the launch process with the given point size. The font and style can optionally be set here as well.
-
All site advertisers would appear in all search lists even if specific ones were set to inactive. This has been fixes so that inactive site advertisers do not appear in search lists.
-
An option to Display Size from OE has been added. If this option is set the size passed in from order entry, not the one calculated using the descriptive size, will appear where the size is displayed. The only exceptions to this are that the descriptive size will still be used to size the ad when launching, compare the sizes between pickups and the actual build size will appear in the AdLauncher size column.
-
Added the descriptive size in units following the descriptive size on the Ad Info page. For example, Descriptive Size: Half-page (3col x 10in). The descriptive size in the Ad Inquiry list display the same info in a mouse-over, for example 3col x 10in.
-
Custom fields can be read in through the XML. If a custom field is specified in the XML and that custom field is identified in the SCS/Track custom fields table, then that field will automatically be saved off with the ad.
